I have a great memory of this cove. It is one of those hard to reach places that goes a little unnoticed on a trip through Crete. Although you are not going to discover anything - the Lonely Planet also talks about it - it is worth it.
Preveli beach is located southeast of the island at the height of the city of Rethimno. To access it you must go through the car with an anguished passage between canyons. It is a gorge in the purest style of Tenerife. You will arrive at a parking lot and from there you have about 200 meters of stairs that rush towards the sea. Only seeing the beach with the river splitting the palm grove in two and kissing the shore will you feel like running down and giving you your first dip.
After the beach we went to eat at a local restaurant in the town of Plakias called María Kostas. More than five years ago but I easily remember my mother's Greek namesake. We sampled a good delicious roasted octopus at a great price.
