The views from the top of the Rock of Guatapé have clearly been blessed

Few weeks ago, the city Medellin was awarded the prize to the most innovative city in the world ahead of Tel Aviv and New York. This pleasant news reminded me of my visits to the city of eternal spring and, as additionally this past weekend I went to a vallenato concert that was held there, I decided to share with you memories of Medal.

The first time I visited Medellín I had the opportunity to visit not only the city but also the surroundings.

For example, a place that I recommend is Guatape and his acquaintance Rock of the Rock. Two hours of travel and the endless stairs leading to the top are worth it since the view is spectacular, to the point that you think you are not in Colombia but somewhere else.

Another beautiful and quiet place is Santa Fe de Antioquia, a small town next to Cauca, a typical landscape, perfect for a weekend.

El Pueblito paisa, Parque Lleras, Avenida El Poblado and its Golden Mile, the Antioquia Museum, Botero's sculptures, the Botanical Garden, the Park explores, the subway, the cable car, the Cathedral ... Endless places to visit In this city that is sadly still famous for its violent past which, as the award granted this year shows us, has completely left behind thanks to its people of a very special character.

Depending on the time of the year, the city hosts different events.

Spectacular and famous throughout Colombia are the Christmas lighting and the Flower Fair and his silleteros. Also international fashion fairs or dance championships. Due to its perennial spring weather, at any time of the year the offer of leisure and culture is enough to justify a few days in the city.

Getting around the city is easy and safe.. The offer of accommodation is wide and for all tastes and budgets. For those who think of traveling through Colombia (which is highly recommended) keep in mind that, under my experience of several years around here, prices are significantly higher in Bogotá and Cartagena than in the rest of the country.

The gastronomy It is an important part of the Paisa culture with many typical dishes, where perhaps, the star is the Tray paisa, something like a Madrid stew but without the soup. Theoretically it is prepared with up to 14 or 15 different ingredients where beans, rice, ground beef, sausage, patacon and fried egg stand out… almost naive !!

Do not miss enjoying empanadas or arepas in the Retail Plaza (which is a food market) or buy some handicrafts at the Mercado de San Alejo every beginning of the month.

Specifically, this weekend I dedicated myself to vallenato and the walk.

Recently it was the Vallenato Festival from Valledupar (or Old Parr Valley for the amount that is taken from this whiskey) and I wanted to see it. In return, fate gave me the opportunity to go see live at Dangond Wild, one of the most fashionable vallenato singers right now.
